This article will help you understand any errors that can happen during a reconciliation.&nbsp;<hr>If your bank does not match in Shine, it can be due to several things. It is important that the balance in your online bank is the same as the balance in Shine on account 5710 on a given date.If there is a difference between what is posted in Shine and what is actually in the bank, you need to find out what the error is.The typical errors are:<ul><li>Double posting: You have posted one or more bank lines several times</li><li>Missing posting: You have missed posting one or more bank lines</li><li>Missing opening balance: You have started in Shine without registering an opening balance in the bank</li></ul>&nbsp;<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>How do you find out what the error is?</h2>Our recommendation is that you manually check your bank bookkeeping and see if any entries are duplicated or missing.This can be done, for example, by finding the bank's account card:<ul><li>Go to Accounting&gt; Balance sheet</li><li>Click on the balance for account 100201001</li></ul>From here you can see your bookkeeping in Shine and check for duplicate or missing entries.You also have the option to export the bank's account card so that you can check it in e.g. Excel.<ul><li>To do so, click on the Export button (in the top right corner).</li></ul>&nbsp;<hr><h3>&nbsp;</h3><h3>Opening balance</h3>When you do this, you can compare the balance recorded in Shine with the balance in the online bank. If the bank has never voted, we must assume that an opening balance has not been made for the bank.If the bank has voted before, you need to find the last date when the bookkeeping in the bank matched the online bank balance. Then you know that the error is from that date onwards.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;<h2>Double-entry accounting</h2>If you find that there are entries that have been double-entered, it would be correct to delete the entries that have been double-entered.This can be done easily :<ul><li>Go under the bank account card;</li><li>Find the entry that needs to be deleted.<ul><li>If it is a financial entry, you can press the Cancel button (in the top right corner).</li><li>If, on the other hand, it is an invoice or bill, you must press under Origin (on the far right) &gt; More &gt; Cancel bill/Cancel invoice. The entry will then be canceled, and the bank balance will be corrected.</li></ul></li></ul>If the bank balance still does not match the actual balance in the bank, you can repeat the above process until the bank balance matches.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;<h2>Missing accounting</h2>If you notice that there are missing entries in the bank in Shine, it may be because there are missing bank lines in the bank reconciliation. Typically, this will happen if you have imported the same bank line several times, most often in connection with both using our automatic bank integration and manual import with a CSV file.There are several possible solutions to this problem depending on how the error occurred.We recommend that you start by deleting your bank connection and creating the bank connection again:<ul><li>Click on Bank &gt; Bank connections &gt; Disconnect connection</li></ul>This will make Shine check if any bank lines need to be imported.If this does not result in new bank lines, we recommend that you extract a CSV file from the online bank and import it manually into Shine.<ul><li>When you have the CSV file from the bank, in Shine, click on Bank &gt; More &gt; Import &gt; Upload bank statement</li><li>From here, select the file to be imported</li></ul>Shine will try to see if some of the bank lines you are trying to import have already been imported, but we cannot guarantee that it will find them all.Therefore, please be aware that the bank lines it marks for import are not always actually missing from the reconciliation. So you have to make sure that only the bank lines that are missing from the accounting are marked before you import.Once you have imported the missing bank lines, you must make the accounting for the bank lines as you normally would.

This article will guide you to correct your entries from your bank reconciliation.&nbsp;<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>General practices</h2>If you have reconciled all your accounts, but there are still some unreconciled entries in the bank reconciliation, it may be because you have double-posted the entries or selected the wrong account to which they were paid.<ul><li>For example, you have stated that it was paid at the bank, but in reality it was paid privately. When you sign up for Shine, there is already a standard chart of accounts, but you can also easily create your own accounts.Keep in mind that the bookkeeping can only help you with accounting on our standard chart of accounts. Aiia is our new provider for bank integrations. That interface is called Aiia Hub : <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://app.aiia.eu/">https://app.aiia.eu/</a>&nbsp;<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Logging into Aiia Hub</h2>When you click the link above, you’ll be taken to a login page.<ul><li>Enter the e-mail you used when first setting up your bank connection</li><li>You’ll receive a six-digit one-time code in your email inbox</li><li>Enter that code to log in. Once authenticated, you’ll land on a dashboard screen</li></ul>&nbsp;<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Update Bank Transactions Manually</h2>Shine usually imports bank transactions into the reconciliation module three to four times per day. However, if a transaction is missing from the morning update and you’d like to fetch it without waiting, you can manually refresh your bank lines via Aiia Hub:<ul><li>After logging in, click on Bank to view all the bank accounts you’ve connected with Shine.</li><li>Select the account you want to update.</li><li>Click Options (or similar).</li><li>Click Update account.</li><li>You may be prompted to log into your bank. In Shine, you can have different bank accounts. Follow this guide to know how to use them.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;<h2>Create a Bank Account</h2>First of all, you need to start by creating a new ledger account for the new Bank.<ul><li>Go to Settings &gt; Accounting</li><li>Click on Edit chart of accounts &gt; Create account</li><li>Select account type Liquid assets</li><li>Give it a logical name (e.g. Shine Bank if it is an account with Shine Bank)</li><li>Give it an account number</li><li>Mark that it is a Bank Account, and that you allow payments on the account</li><li>You can then choose to enter bank information for the bank account at the bottom of the page</li><li>Click on Save Account</li></ul><h3>&nbsp;</h3><hr><h3>&nbsp;</h3><h2>Handling old bank accounts</h2>If you continue to have your old bank account, you should not do anything with this one.But, if you will no longer use your old bank account, you should close the account so that you do not accidentally post to it. To do so, follow these steps:<ul><li>Go to Settings &gt; Accounting</li><li>Click on Edit chart of accounts</li><li>Find the old bank account</li><li>Press on Correct</li><li>Uncheck Bank Account and Allow Payments</li><li>Save the Account</li></ul>&nbsp;<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Correct a payment method on an invoice</h2>If you want to receive a payment on your sales invoices from the new bank account, you must create a payment method for this so that your customers know where to pay the invoice amount.<ul><li>Go to &gt; Invoicing &gt; Payment</li><li>Type in the payment details</li></ul>From here you must remove the payment method from being set as default.Next, you need to create the new bank's payment method:<ul><li>Click on Create payment method</li><li>Select Bank transfer</li><li>Type in the details for the bank and click on Save</li></ul>Your new account number will then appear on new invoices and payments on bills and invoices will be processed via the newly created account.&nbsp;

Create a bank account 

You can integrate your bank with Shine, regardless of which bank you use.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;You no longer need to manually upload CSV files every time you need to reconcile your accounts. This means that all your bank transactions are automatically transferred to your bank reconciliation in your accounts. This saves time and minimises the risk of importing duplicates.&nbsp;<h2>Connect your bank</h2>First time connecting:<ul><li>Option 1: Go to Bank and select your bank (you can search by bank name)</li><li>Option 2: Click on Connect bank (from the overview)</li></ul>You will then be taken to the AIIA page to establish the connection.<ul><li>Accept the terms and conditions</li><li>Select your bank from the list of supported banks (or you can search for your bank if that makes it easier).</li><li>Log in to your bank</li><li>Select the accounts you want to connect.</li><li>Click on Continue and then Accept.</li></ul>To complete the integration with Shine, you must also create an account with AIIA using your e mail address.<ul><li>Enter an e-mail address</li></ul>You will then receive a confirmation code via e-mail, which you must use to continue.<ul><li>Enter the confirmation code</li><li>Click on Proceed</li></ul>Once you have entered the code, you will be returned to Shine, where you must select the account in your chart of accounts that is to be linked to your bank accounts. By default, account 100201001 – Bank is suggested.After approval, your connection will be established, and the system will continuously synchronise your bank lines several times a day.

If you have previously connected your bank, AIIA will remember your details.&nbsp; They will simply send you a new confirmation code, which you must enter.&nbsp; Then select which accounts you want to connect to, and finally select the corresponding bank account on Shine’s page as shown above.

<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Link multiple bank accounts</h2>❗️Before connecting to multiple accounts, you need to make sure you have created all your bank accounts in the chart of accounts. If you need to create some bank accounts in the chart of accounts, you can read how to do so in this article : Create a bank account (see link in our related articles).Once all your bank accounts are created in the chart of accounts, you need to connect to them individually. You can start by connecting to the first bank account, as shown earlier in the article.After the first connection has been made, you can switch to another bank account in the upper left corner.After you have switched to another bank account, you will have the option to connect to it as well.<ul><li>Click on Connect bank.</li></ul>You will then be redirected to the AIIA website and receive a confirmation code via e-mail.<ul><li>Enter the code &gt; select your bank accounts as shown earlier in the guide.</li></ul>When you return to Shine’s page, select which accounts you want to connect now.<ul><li>We have already connected 100201001 , so in this case we need to select Bank no. 2 (you just need to select the bank account in the chart of accounts that you have created yourself).</li></ul>Then repeat the process for each account until all your bank accounts are connected.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;Is the wrong bank listed on the invoice?
