In Shine, you can have different bank accounts. Follow this guide to know how to use them.

Create a Bank Account

First of all, you need to start by creating a new ledger account for the new Bank.

  • Go to Settings > Accounting
  • Click on Edit chart of accounts > Create account
  • Select account type Liquid assets
  • Give it a logical name (e.g. Shine Bank if it is an account with Shine Bank)
  • Give it an account number
  • Mark that it is a Bank Account, and that you allow payments on the account
  • You can then choose to enter bank information for the bank account at the bottom of the page
  • Click on Save Account

Handling old bank accounts

If you continue to have your old bank account, you should not do anything with this one.

But, if you will no longer use your old bank account, you should close the account so that you do not accidentally post to it. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Accounting
  • Click on Edit chart of accounts
  • Find the old bank account
  • Press on Correct
  • Uncheck Bank Account and Allow Payments
  • Save the Account

Correct a payment method on an invoice

If you want to receive a payment on your sales invoices from the new bank account, you must create a payment method for this so that your customers know where to pay the invoice amount.

  • Go to > Invoicing > Payment
  • Type in the payment details

From here you must remove the payment method from being set as default.

Next, you need to create the new bank's payment method:

  • Click on Create payment method
  • Select Bank transfer
  • Type in the details for the bank and click on Save

Your new account number will then appear on new invoices and payments on bills and invoices will be processed via the newly created account.
