To find the transactions that are the cause of the difference, you can go to the account Credit to customers and search for Cash journal.&nbsp;The transactions from the cash journal will then be displayed, and you can subsequently make the relevant changes in your accounting.

<hr><h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Other receivables</h2>Finally, you should check whether you have other receivables in your accounts and whether these receivables have been recognized correctly. This will typically be the case if you use payment solutions in your company, such as Stripe or Paypal.The receivables that you have with these companies should appear on your balance sheet on the assets side, typically under current assets. If you need to create a credit note related to a supplier, please follow this guide.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;It may happen that you have paid a bill that is too high, or that you and your supplier have agreed on a discount. Therefore, the supplier sends a portion of the bill back to your company.&nbsp;This means that the total amount you have spent on the supplier and an applicable expense account, e.g. “Office supplies”, decreases by an amount, and you receive the money in your bank account.&nbsp;<h2>Create a credit note</h2>First, you need to find the bill in question. You can either search for it in the search box or find it under Expenses.<ul><li>Go to Expenses &gt; Purchases</li><li>Click on the bill you want to credit &nbsp;</li></ul>Once you are on the bill:<ul><li>Click on More &gt; Credit purchase</li><li>Enter the refunded amount in the Amount Line (❗️Do not write a minus in front of the amount);</li><li>Click on Approve &nbsp;</li></ul><hr><h2> Approve the credit note</h2>After you have created the credit note, remember to go in and register the payment. Private expenses from your employees can be paid directly to the employee’s account. Here is how it works.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;If your employees make a private expense for the company, you can pay it directly from the bank to the account. You can then book it as a normal expense against the bank.However, you technically miss the actual transfer from your bank to the employee's - which some accountants or tax people may be unhappy about. In Shine’s cash journal, you have the option to import entries made in Excel. To do so, please follow this guide.&nbsp;<hr>First of all, you gonna have to upload a CSV file, which must follow certain formats. A CSV file is a text file with comma-separated values, which is generally used for data transfer between databases. The CSV file must have some predetermined columns and values, which are described below.Please note that the function only works if you make use of account numbers in your chart of accounts.&nbsp;<h2>Import a cash journal CSV file</h2>To import the CSV file to the cash journal, go to Accounting &gt; Journal &gt; More &gt; Import.

If there are errors in your file, the programme will automatically tell you what the error is and possibly which row and column it is.However, you should be aware that the file must fulfill a number of conditions for the import to work.

<hr><h3>&nbsp;</h3><h2>The format of the CSV file</h2><h3>Separators</h3>The file must be a CSV file where the import supports the following separators:<ul><li>Comma (,)</li><li>Semicolon (;)</li><li>Tab.</li></ul><h3>Rows</h3>The first row (row 1) should always be column headers. This row is ignored on import, as are empty rows. The columns from A to I in the Excel sheet must have the values below. You are not allowed to swap them around.

<ul><li>Column A: By Type you have the option to define whether the row indicates a :<ul><li>Financial voucher (F)</li><li>Customer payment (K)</li><li>Supplier payment (L)</li></ul>The letters in brackets can be used as abbreviations. If the field is empty, the row will become a Financial voucher.</li><li>Column B: Here you enter the desired voucher number for the transaction. If you put the same voucher number on multiple lines, it becomes one transaction. Make sure that the debit and credit are correct and that they, with the same number, are next to each other and not scattered around the Excel sheet. &nbsp;</li><li>Column C: The date is entered in this row. If you have given several lines the same voucher number, you only need to enter the date for the first line. &nbsp;</li><li>Column D: In this column, you can enter a description of the entry. &nbsp;</li><li>Column E: Account number determines which account is posted to. If the row is a Customer payment, enter the invoice number instead. If the row is a Supplier payment, enter the invoice voucher number instead. If empty, the entry will be imported without an account. &nbsp;</li><li>Column F: You can determine the VAT rate by using a valid abbreviation/tax code for one of your VAT rates. See a list of these inside the programme under Settings &gt; VAT rates. &nbsp;</li><li>Columns G - H: The amounts are set in either Debit or Credit. If a negative amount is entered in the debit column, it will automatically be credited, and the same goes for the credit column. &nbsp;</li><li>Column I: The last column is the Counter account. You can use it if you have a simple entry with a counter account. Instead of using 2 lines, you can quickly select a counter account, just like in the Shine cash journal. If empty, the entry will be imported without a counter account.</li></ul>&nbsp;Save the file as CSV and import : The transactions imported will be added to the end of the daybook. Any existing transactions will not be deleted.&nbsp;

The daybook in Shine can be used for many things, including registering payments from customers.&nbsp;<h2>Register an invoice payment in the cash journal</h2>We need the cash journal, which is located under Accounting &gt; JournalIn order to register the payment on the correct invoice, we need to change the cash journal from a financial voucher to a customer payment.To do this, follow those steps:<ul><li>Click on the arrow next to J &gt; select Customer payment</li><li>Select date</li><li>Enter a description</li><li>Select the invoice for which you have received payment (the full amount of the invoice is automatically put in credit)</li><li>Select counter account - typically bank or cash</li><li>Click on Approve all</li></ul>&nbsp;Your invoice :<ul><li>Will go from unpaid to paid and the money will be deposited in the bank</li><li>Will be registered as paid in the Invoices tab (under Sales)</li></ul>

Here's a guide on how to correctly post your daily cash reports - also known as daily sales.&nbsp;<hr>&nbsp;If you have some sales through e.g. payment services, you typically need to record the day's or month's sales. It can be a bit tricky to keep track of daily cash reports when you run a physical store. But with a little practice, it won't be a problem.<h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Book sales manually</h2>We will start with this simple version of a cash report, where all sales are subject to VAT.<img src="https://pleasant-serenity-c17bc74577.media.strapiapp.com/image_2_225a20aafe.png" alt="image (2).png" width="258" height="162">&nbsp;The posting of the sale should be done in the cash drawer as follows:<ul><li>Go to the Accounting tab (on the left)</li><li>Select Bookkeeping in the menu &gt; Daybook &gt; + Add transaction</li><li>Enter the date of the day you are posting the sale from. This is typically the last day of the month for monthly reports or today's date for daily reports</li><li>We need to make a multi-legged entry, which means we need to add some lines to the cash drawer. You can do this by hovering over the small arrow to the far right of the cash register and clicking the little “+” that appears. Or you can press the command CTRL + L or COMMAND + L on a Macbook. We need 4 lines in total</li><li>In the first line you can write the month or day sales on xx/xx-xx</li><li>Select the revenue account</li><li>Enter the total sales amount in Credit. Do not select a counter account</li><li>Then go to the next line in the entry. Here you can, for example, indicate if there have been any cash sales. If you have, then enter Cash and select the account for your Cash balance. Remember to set the VAT to VAT Free (0%) or leave the field empty as you have registered the VAT through the first line</li><li>Enter the amount of cash received in Debit</li><li>On the next line, you can indicate if there has been a payment fee. If there was, you can enter Fee in the text field and select the account for Fees. Fees are VAT-free, so there is no need to enter anything for VAT</li><li>Enter the fee amount in Debit</li><li>On the last line, we need to enter the amount we have received in the bank from the payment program You can type “Payout” in the text field and select the account your Bank account</li><li>Enter the amount in Debit. The amount should match the total sales minus fees and cash.</li></ul>&nbsp;The entire transaction must add up so that there is no difference between the total sale and the amount paid out through bank and cash. Some only have transaction fees while others also have some monthly fees in addition to the subscription price.
