Quotes help set clear expectations before starting a job by outlining pricing, scope and terms. Once approved, they can be converted into invoices with one click, reducing manual work.<h2> Creating a quote</h2><ol><li>Go to Quotes and click New quote. All previously created quotes appear on the left side of the screen.</li><li>The editor will open. Add the required details such as customer information, items and pricing. Use the settings panel on the right to adjust currency, language or layout. When everything looks correct, click Next to preview the quote.</li><li>Select Approve and send to send the quote, or Save as draft if you want to continue later. Before a quotee is turned into an invoice, it goes through several stages in Shine.&nbsp;The status helps you see whether an estimate is still being prepared, already sent, or has been answered by your customer.<h2>&nbsp;</h2><h2>Estimate statuses in Shine</h2>Estimates in Shine can have the following statuses:<ul><li>Draft – the estimate has been created and saved as a draft</li><li>Created – the estimate is complete but has not been sent yet</li><li>Sent – the estimate has been sent by email</li><li>Accepted – the customer has approved the estimate</li><li>Declined – the customer has rejected the estimate</li><li>Invoiced – the estimate has been converted into an invoice</li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>Changing the status of a quote</h2>To update the status, open Quotes, select the estimate and click the status field. Choose the new status and save your changes.Note: Once an quote is marked as Invoiced, the status can no longer be changed.&nbsp;<h2>Automatic status updates</h2>When you send the quote by email, your customer can respond directly in the quote portal using Take Action to:<ul><li>accept or</li><li>decline</li></ul>the quote.Shine will then update the status automatically in your account.

In Shine, you can customise your quote number if needed.After signing up with Shine, the quote number for your first quote is automatically set to 1. Each new estimate then receives the next consecutive number (2, 3, 4, and so on). &nbsp;<hr><h2> Change your quote number</h2>You can adjust the quote number directly in the quote editor:<ol><li>Open a new quote or an existing draft</li><li>Enter the desired number in the Quote number field</li></ol>Please note:<ul><li>Only numbers are supported (for example 1001 or 202401)</li><li>Letters or special characters are not allowed</li><li>The quote number cannot start with 0 (for example 001)</li></ul>

If you enter a new quote number and save the estimate as a draft, the new numbering sequence will not be applied yet. The new sequence will only continue automatically once the quote is finalised with the updated number.

<hr><h3> Good to know</h3><ul><li>You can start with a specific quote number, for example at the beginning of a new year (such as 202601 for the first quote of the year).</li><li>When converting a quote into an invoice, the quote number is not transferred. The invoice will instead receive the next invoice number based on your invoice numbering settings.</li></ul>
