Our story

There had to be a better way

Our founders, Martin and Rico, built their first company together in Denmark and quickly discovered what every entrepreneur learns: financial admin has a way of stealing time and focus from the work you actually love. They were left thinking that there had to be a better way of supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses to reach their potential.

It was from this frustration that our founders set out to build a comprehensive but accessible financial copilot for small business owners - enabling them to succeed while spending zero minutes on administration. In 2012, our founders went on to launch the company that we know as Shine today (originally named Ageras) and we began to build a user-focused, fully-integrated business finance platform - unifying banking, accounting, payroll, and tax management together in one platform.

Now operating in four European markets, Shine exists to help small business owners stop wasting time on admin, protect their focus, and reclaim the joy of working for themselves.
